About Melissa

Melissa Del Rosario is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in children, adolescents and families.  She feels that the family system is key to helping and improving any issues that present within a child, adolescent or parent. She enjoys working with parents, children and families to help them improve communication and move to a healthier and happier place.

Much of Melissa’s approaches are experiential and focus on bringing things to the present to reduce stress, anxiety, irritability, and negativity.  She also utilizes art, mindfulness and music.  Some of her evidenced-based practices are Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.  Melissa also loves incorporating play therapy with younger children as well as bibliotherapy. She feels that engaging both child and parent in play and attunement are keys to success.

Melissa enjoys working with children and families that present with issues of trauma and adoption. She also likes working with children who present with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and parenting.  She is interested in a holistic approach to healing and improvement and has been working with children, adolescents and families providing therapy for over ten years.
